Digbeth – The heart of Birmingham

Looking at Digbeth from the Bull Ring
13 May

When it came to deciding where to set up Studio OneThreeOne Fitness the options were endless. We viewed so many locations but when we saw the Zellig Building in Digbeth we instantly knew it was the right choice and quickly signed on the dotted line.

Why Digbeth?

Digbeth is the home of arts and culture in Birmingham and, like most of the city centre is under going major development. Originally the industrial area, it’s full of factories, warehouses and units that are being quickly snatched up for cafes, bars, shops and of course personal training studios.

Being only a 5 minute walk from the Bull Ring & Grand Central and even closer to Moor Street train station who wouldn’t think this is an ideal location? If you are driving you can get as far as Moseley to the south, or the M6 motorway in under 10 minutes.

The Custard Factory, Digbeth

Probably one of the most iconic and best known places in Digbeth. The Custard Factory, historically known for bars, clubs and hedonism however the face lift is almost complete and it’s very much open for business.

Wander round and you’ll find a wide range of offerings. Everything from stylish barbers, cafes and funky shops are open and draw in the crowds whilst the expanding office spaces are enticing some big names, including Codemasters who have opened an office here. For those who have been before you will remember the fountain and centre court, which is a great place for some down time during the day.

The obvious choice for Studio OneThreeOne Fitness

As I said, after viewing the space in the Zellig Building the choice was really a no brainer. Digbeth is a place recommended for all so come visit, the great thing is that if you come this month, there will be new things to see next month. My favourite thing about Digbeth is, despite being here for a couple of year there is always something new to see. Definitely don’t walk round with your head down or you’ll miss it. Look up and wide to see the hidden beauties on offer.

Next time you are in the city centre pop down and take a look – we promise you’ll love it. And if you are in the area pop in to our studio for a chat. Whether you are looking for personal training or a gym – or not; we are always available to welcome people to the area

Here are some photos taken on a average wander round the area.
